Bimmer Plug did NOT design these e89 Z4 tail lights like they claim to...

China did. Specifically Encore Auto. That's really shady of them to claim to have designed and manufactured a part when they clearly did not. I just lost a lot of respect for them. I installed them on my car a few days ago and they work and look great. You can use Bimmer Code to turn on and off the RDL on them and other things, but they are quality parts and made very well the fitment is great and overall a very nice modern update to the car!

Quote from Bimmer Plug in their description... "This product is custom-made to order. Please allow 1-3 weeks for production and 1-2 weeks for delivery." More like this item will be bought from Encore Auto or another cheaper source and sell it to you for twice the price. Hence why it takes 1-3 weeks for "production" and 1-2 weeks for delivery. You've been called out and own up to it @BimmerPlug.

This is the YouTube video of the tail lights from Encore Auto showcasing them:

There's 3 different options for the tail lights. There's smoked with grey running lights (as seen in the video), smoked with red as the running lights and clear rather than smoked which do not come with the blue animation during start up.

Shame on you Bimmer Plug...

Good to hear a positive report on these as it looks like the OE part is now no longer available….

Speaking of which, I'm willing to part ways with my stock tail lights as I no longer need them if anyone is interested. Perfect condition. They also have the 3 bolt and nut holds rather than the 2 that came after the 2010 models. Doesn't really make much of a difference, but they will hold onto the body "better"/be more secure.

Would be purchasers should exercise installation caution on the 3 stud variant ..over tightening results in the front being pulled away from the back…hence the reason why they moved to the two stud option…one of the 7 changes that happened to this design..
