I am wanting to get a Dash Camera for the car and would like suggestions. I would prefer one that is small and out of the way. Atlanta traffic can be unforgiving and I want documentation if an accident happens.

This is what I have:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VKNQ4EC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I mount it right behind the rear view mirror. There are many options, it comes down to what kind of protection you want. There are g sensors and other options. Keep in mind, when it says WiFi, it doesn't mean that the camera connects to your wifi network where you can access it, its an ad hoc connection. So you'll find yourself disconnecting from your wifi and connecting to the camera itself in order to access its media. It all just depends on your budget and a lot of other factors like if you want to replace your mirror, etc. There are some which are powered by capacitors, less issues with heat. And there are those with internal batteries so they can be removed and used as a normal camera for a few minutes during an accident.

I use a GoPro, but to be honest it isn't a very good dashcam setup. I just use it because I also use the camera on my motorbike and other hobbies, so it makes sense to have just one. Plus, 780p? What is this 1991? I prefer 4k.

I got the A119c after reading up on dashcamtalk. Seemed like the best bang for my buck and its been working great -- haven't had any heat related failures like my last dash cam (that had lithium battery instead of capacitor) and I've been meaning to hardwire the dash cam but haven't had the time

I was intrigued by the waylens that I kept seeing adds for on YouTube. It's has an obd plug that records some data that can be put on screen in your vids but I think just for traffic incidents it would be a little expensive and unnecessary

Wish I saw this thread when I bought my Blackvue dr650s-2ch on a group buy site (originally $450 MSRP, group buy for $250) couple weeks ago. If you shop around you can still find some good deals. Finally comes in tomorrow, can't wait!

Have a couple of these in the garage, one for each of our primary vehicles, but have not installed. At the time I bought almost 2 year sago, was best combo of size, resolution, view angle, functions, and price.

Hmm. Do any of you have the BMW sun shade? If these can 'quick disconnect' then maybe I'll consider giving my dashcam to my girlfriend and buying a new one.

I don't have the sun shade but my blackvue dr650s 2-ch can be disconnected and taken off the mount fairly easily and should leave ample room between the windshield sun shade. Just make sure you clean your glass properly before installing the adhesive pads. Those things stick better than gum in hair. I actually pulled off the pads like 3 times when i installed my cam, got it a little dirty, just wiped it off a little and stuck it on. Been waiting almost a year for it to fall off. Did once shortly after, but i just stuck it back and hasn't fell again lmao

Even bought more just in case, but never needed to use them.

If I were buying a dashcam now, this one has promise. It not only does 360, and will turn on when the car is off to record movements, but it will record constantly while the car is on also.
