Welcome to the forum! I've already watched the video via theChicagogarage
Hey thanks! We should meet up sometime if you get a chance...our group of friends likes to have fun.
Awesome VR4 man. Good race's too. Close competition there with a z06 vette! Love it.
Thanks, it was a great time were definitely going to do a rematch.
Off topic, but i figured OP would understand lol..
I had a 93 SL 5mt, 92 VR4 5mt, and then a '95 VR4 6mt.
I sold my '95 vr4 after i got my 335i 6mt. I still regret selling that one. It was Black/Tan. I was the 2nd owner. The car was a 9/10. I put a Pamp Stage 1 shortblock, 13T turbos, DP, and all the supporting mods. Very fast car. The AWD gripped soo well. I remember launching in the rain, the car was just as fast 0-60, as on a dry road lol.
I am already thinking about finding a cheap shell and building it up to be a street monster lol.
It was just such a great car that was wayy ahead of its time. People saw the stock weight of the car and horror stories of repairing them and the value dropped. Probably most under valued car here in the USA, looking at 90's Japanese Turbo cars
-3.0L V6 DOHC 24V TT Motor that can handle 6/700 AWHP/TQ on stock everything. The VR4 heads and cams flowed extremely well for stock.
Plus all the Tech options were all Standard on VR4's.
-AWD - LSD Center Diff, LSD Rear diff
-6MT & T/C for AWD made by Getrag
-Electric Damping Control-Tour/Sport Mode
(Miss this soo much!!)
-Active Exhaust - quiet/loud
-Active Aero - front diffuser/rear wing
-AWS - Rear wheel steering
(I eventually did do an AWS Delete)
-12 Way Adj Seats & Adj Side Bolsters
-Auto Climate Control
-Projector Headlights
-Projector Fog Lights
-USB ECU Flashing
-2G Body Style or '99 VR4 conversion
Very fun street car that when built properly like yours, can take down a lottt of modern cars/supercars!
There are a bunch of 1000+AWHP VR4's out there also! Stock Block or 6g74/5 3.5L/3.8L Montero Block. People are now getting into the V6 MIVEC heads and 3.8L V6 Blocks with great results.
I was looking for a 3335Xi 6MT couoe, but i just couldn't find a clean one. Found a superr clean 335i 6MT coupe RWD. I'm enjoying the RWD and the N54 power. But if i put in a rear LSD and its still not what i want ill probably buy an Xi Coupe in the future.
Hey thanks so much! As Ive posted around various forums(ls1tech, vette forums, svtforums, etc...i always hear the same type of responses...there are lots of closest VR-4 lovers out there. When done right, cosmetically and mechanically they are a pleasure to work on, drive and enjoy. My setup is nothing speical, just a piston/rod combo, slightly ported heads and a set of cams(cause i got a good deal). Otherwise the rest of the tech on the car such as the turbos, boost control(mbc), no vanos/mivec etc..is all very old school.(MHI 16g's--journal bearing, non-twinscroll, no billet wheels, etc...) but it does well.
Nice car man. My buddy has one as well. Purpose built "Shit on your life" car, lol. Makes between 800-900awhp on PTE Twin 5857's.

For some reason i think i may have seen this video. and hell he may even know you. But going to share this video with him. I've always loved the VR4's. and have been tempted to build one over the years.
thats a gorgeous car. I'm on 3si a lot and I don't think I've seen that car yet. Where is it located?
Too bad they stopped making these...Used to really want one of these when I was in high school, 15 years ago. Ended up getting an eclipse instead
Yeah its been my dream car since highschool--probably earlier. Ive got a sizeable build thread if you're interested in reading.
That is gorgeous, any more pictures?
Here are a few more candid pictures of mine...
What turbo is ZR4 running? And how much power out of the zo6?
Ive got a twin 16g setup. Currently running 24psi with a manual boost controller--lots of room for improvement there with a 3 port mac/aem solenoid. Its got another +100whp in it with more boost and timing but I think I'm going to keep it here and just enjoy it win or lose.
As far as the z06, owner said it dynoed 540whp. Mine is roughly making the same.
