Any plans on making a Spoolstreet forum app for IOS/Android? Would be super convenient and nice to have an app much like Bimmerpost rather than going through the mobile browser all the time. Just wondering if this could possibly be in the works in the near future

I've had this on the table since November. I could easily put up a Tapatalk app, but those wrappers aren't exactly what I'm looking for. That would be more of a last resort. I am more interested in a native app, although we have a lot of customization's and that app would need to be customized quite a bit for us. Its a project which costs several thousand dollars when its all said and done, but its on the table and I've been exploring the options, yes.

The other main problem, is that our forum software is going to make a big, 2.0 update and I'd like to get us migrated. This will cause a backlog of software which needs updated and that would include the app. So building one now which needs to be updated again would be somewhat of a waste, especially considering all the extensive testing which is needed.

I have Tapatalk on my phone currently, so that option would work for me. Not wild about the app though so another solution might be better.

There are other issues with tapatalk, like how it stores certain files locally and if you revert away from tapatalk, you'll have thousands of missing resources and other issues. So I'm really not trying to do that yet. In the end, if a native app isn't realistic, then tapatalk is better than nothing, simply for the Google/Apple Push notification services. But I still have options to explore.

I already have an app. It isn't native, but its better than just browsing the site on mobile as you get push notifications and some native integration features. Won't be releasing it any time soon though, many other things being worked on and several dependencies.

There will most likely never be a true native app. A lot of what makes this site cool is all the addons. Those are developed by third parties and would mean the site would operate totally different from the app. Only wrapper type apps will be realistic.

Additionally, the initial cost is just one issue. The ongoing expense of paying a dev to maintain the code. Keeping it up to date with all the variations of phones and mobile software updates etc. It's going to cost way more than this site can afford.

I'm considering a web view app still. I've poured a bit of money into it already. Still early though.
