Hello Spoolers,

I have decided to try and give back to the community a bit and maybe get to know a couple of you. Keep in mind I will only be able to do this on select days and we can make appointments accordingly.

I have always had a interest in computers. I have been programming applications for the last 10 years. To top all that off I am IT Support for an entire company that involves me assisting with technical issues that no one has ever seen or that no one else can figure out. Main reason to inform you about the skillset that I have acquired over the years is to increase comfort when using this service.

BMW Coding Setup:
I am offering a service for free that is exclusively for SpoolStreet. I will help get all the tools, setting up the software, and general overview of what they can do.

What you will need:
  1. BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface
  2. Laptop with at least 4gb RAM
  3. Either a bought or 'acquired' copy of VMWare

The Process:
  1. Help with selecting the right Cable
  2. Downloading and Installing BMW Coding v3 Virtual Machine
  3. Setting up your Virtual Machine in VMWare
  4. Configuring and Installing Drivers for successful communications
  5. Overview of how to code your car + Unlimited Questions you can ask me for support!

Support:
  • Coding / Programming your BMW
  • Questions about anything that doesn't go smoothly during the process
  • Anything else I can assist with

Overall Goal:

The goal of this service is to increase forum members knowledge when it comes to coding their BMW and, ensuring that they can have the option to code/program their car.
This service will also help boost the member base and keep people active and, to help empower those that are not secure with their general computer knowledge. Anyone here is capable of doing this once they understand it. It sounds a lot scarier than it actually is. I backup everything that the member has time to let me backup from their car so, if the member makes a mess of things I can at least help them clean it all up!

Thanks again SpoolStreet, You guys help me increase my knowledge so, it's time I give back some!
- Derek

Can you do the Alpina TCU flash for me? :)
Of course! I would be glad to assist you helping you flash your TCU just make sure you have TeamViewer (Remote Admin Tool, that will let me have remote access to your machine for the flashing)

I will take you up on this here in the next few weeks. I already have all the needed hardware. I will need to do an "acquisition" then I will be ready for your guidance.
Awesome, I would love to help you out. Just make sure to convo me and make sure we get a good date setup!

You have PM! Thanks Derek, this is awesome!
Not a problem sir,
As I said my goal is to help people understand these applications so they can be used safely and confidentially. Coding your car is one of the easiest and most flexible things you can do with these vehicles. Its a pretty simple thing for the most part. As far as what I would like to cover for people is the very basics and most useful things. Like flashing the TCU or programming features

Thinking about making video tutorials on how to get set up in detail without having to have people work around my schedule. I would obviously still be IT Support for coding and getting members fixed up.

Seems like a good idea. Who agrees?

This whole project sounds awesome. It seems like there's some knowledge out there about how to set up the full programming tools, but it's either fragmented or there's conflicting info. I'd assume that if someone had made a good tutorial by now everyone would be doing their own coding.

I really hope that once everything is done that anyone that finds my resources is able to use them successfully!

I had an interesting time getting everything set up and a little bit where the vocabulary crippled me with standard guides. So, hopefully we can make something awesome out of this! :)
