Hey, if the U hose is touching the compressor housing i would highly advise either using some heat protective material/ or something that repels it between them. My compressor housing still gets too hot to touch and I'm concerned that it may melt through your hose eventually.
Yeah I was worried about that as well. I inspected it after 1000 miles and it looks good but I might as well throw some heat tape on it since I have a bunch just laying around lol. You think the compressor housing gets much hotter than the radiator fluid? It would be interesting to know what kind range of temperature it gets up to during a pull.

Here's a matchbot for a BW efr 8374 running 20 psi. compressor outlet temps up in the 270's & 280's, I imagine the 6466 would be pretty similar, defintaley in the same ball park.

Silicone hoses are typically rated for up to around 400° F, I wouldn't worry too much if you're not in that ballpark.
But you can never go wrong with additional heat protection.

thanks @Boorda for the info, I was pretty sure that the hose should be able to handle the heat from the housing. I will put some heat tape on it just in case though, cant see it hurting anything. I am back out at sea again for now but once I get home I am going to figure out my meth kit and hopefully be running 24psi or so with some timing this time.

I'm a methanal addict myself :tearsofjoy:

In fact, I just got done drilling some injector ports last night in my new BMP intake mani I'll be putting on soon.

Oh, and have you considered a turbo blanket? That will help redirect heat as well in such a confined space.

Anyone know what max boost a 4-port mac solenoid should be able to make a 6466 max out at when the spring pressure measures at 7.8 psi? I thought when researching it said 4x the spring pressure, reason I ask is my car seems to only be able to make 19.5 psi when I am demanding 23. Thinking about adding a spring and trying to get the wastegate spring pressure up from 7.8 to around 12 or 13. Thanks as always for any information.

I think in general it's double the spring pressure. So if you have a 10psi spring you can hit 20psi with a 3 port valve. Not sure if 4 port makes a difference.

From what I understand a 4 port should hold more boost but I have never used one.

What are you using for boost control? Reflex, gfb, something else?

I'm using a 3port Mac valve and 3 springs in my wastegate which puts it at ~13psi spring pressure. Controlling it with a reflex+ I have no problems hitting 26psi (other than false misfires at that boost level).

So a 3 port is up to 2.5 times your wastegate spring. and a 4 port is up to 6 times your wastegate spring. But always keep in mind you sacrifice tuning resolution with a 4 port.

@sk8 thanks for the reply, I am currently only using two springs which said it should put it at 11psi but in reality, it holds at 7.8 psi I will add another spring and see if I can get it up to 13 psi. I am looking to be around the same boost level you are at, I haven't had any misfires or limp mode yet, but I also haven't gotten above 19 pounds with 6.5 degrees timing. I am running a low concentration of meth right now about 30% and 92 octane.

I have never messed with a 4-port MAC solenoid before, but this guy has a great video about setting them up....

So this is pretty basic and probably isn't your problem, but as I'm new to external wastegates I didn't realize this was a thing.. My turbosmart comes with a valve seat that is seperate from the valve body, so it's possible to install without it in place. If that happens there will be an airgap when the wastegate is closed, like in this picture. Like I said, I'm noob with external wastegates, but just wanted to mention this in case it could be related to your wastegate.

I havent used a JB4 in years but I recall it was easy to miss changes required based on your setup or fw. Have you reached out to BMS?

I am running a 3 port mac as well, TS wastegate with I believe a 14 psi spring., gfb iii ebc, I am right around 25 psi at 78% duty cycle.

This is true. It’s called a fire seat ring I believe. Every wastegate I’ve seen had this as a separate piece.
